Power Lunch Yoga Classes
If you're an avid practitioner of yoga, but find you do not have the time do it as much as you'd like, you should consider power lunch yoga classes. The following takes a look at the steps you'll need to take to get in a successful yoga workout during your lunch hour.
Power Lunch Yoga Classes

Most American workers use their lunch hour for eating and socializing. However, you can eat a full lunch in only half an hour, giving you enough time to get in a complete yoga workout. There are many studios that cater to working professionals and offer power lunch yoga classes in the middle of a typical 9-5 weekday.

Preparation is Key
Although your lunch hour can afford you the time to work out, let's face it; it does not give you any minutes to spare. You'll need to maximize your time by being thoroughly prepared before your day even starts.

Yoga Studio

The first step is to decide where you are going to perform your yoga routine. If you're in a large metropolis, you may have a great studio only blocks from your office that offers power lunch classes. However, you do not want to spend more than five minutes travelling to perform your yoga routine. After all, five minutes back and forth adds up to 10 minutes total travel time, and many studio lunch classes last 45 minutes.

Your Office

If you work in a smaller city or in suburbia, you will likely have to travel farther than five minutes to get to a yoga studio. If this is the case, than travelling to a yoga studio over your lunch hour is just not feasible. You'll do much better performing your yoga routine right inside your office. However, your office space may not be the most conducive area for doing yoga in. Take some or all of the following measures to make your office your own power lunch yoga class sanctuary:

Close blinds, doors or curtains; you do not want to distract your co-workers, nor do you want to be distracted or uncomfortable.
Turn off all electronics and lights: the dull buzz of machinery and glare of fluorescent lighting is not calming.
Light a candle or play music only when you do yoga; this will help you mentally separate your work time from your yoga time.
Once you have decided where you're going to do yoga over lunch you're ready to prepare all the little items you'll need for a successful experience.

Getting Ready

One of the best ways to prepare for your yoga lunch hour is to ready your belongings the night before. You'll need to pack the following:

Comfortable, loose fitting yoga clothes
Water bottle
Yoga mat
You should also prepare a healthy lunch ahead of time. Always perform your yoga routine the first half-hour of your lunch break; you never want to do yoga on a full stomach.

Is 30 Minutes Really Enough?

Many yoga practitioners have elaborate routines that sometimes exceed an hour in length. These routines are great, but you can still get in a good yoga workout in less time. If you're having trouble cutting back your routine, check out these resources for options:
