Learn to Teach Basic Yoga
If you want to learn to teach basic yoga, there are some options for quick study. But keep in mind as a yoga professional, you'll have certain responsibilities and insurance liabilities to consider. You'll want to treat your students with due diligence for their safety and progress.
Learn to Teach Basic Yoga

There are programs that will help an experienced yoga practitioner, fitness instructor, or physical therapist to teach basic yoga. These programs do not usually make you eligible for registration with the Yoga Alliance or other professional yoga associations unless you complete a full 200-hour certification course. But, you'll have a general understanding of teaching a foundational practice.

American Fitness Professionals and Associates: This home-study program helps you become a certified yoga fitness instructor, capable of teaching beginning and intermediate students. The program follows Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga principles, and you'll have the option to advance to a second level of coursework to teach more advanced yoga practitioners. Level I costs $370.
Sport Yoga: This online program provides the convenience of in-home study for a reasonable cost. You'll also earn continuing education credits (CEUs). The core yoga program is Hatha, and is enhanced with Pilates mat work and various types of warm-ups. Package include the online class work, audio lessons, and a digital manual for $297.
Local Yoga Studios: Sometimes yoga studios will offer teacher training intensives that don't provide certification, but do extend further education that may help you sub a class from time-to-time. Usually these intensive programs run for six-to-eight weeks.
Chair Yoga Programs

Another way to learn to teach basic yoga is to attain chair yoga certification. This modality is helpful for many demographics and is growing in popularity. Recommended programs include Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga Certification Program and Liz Franklin's Yoga in Chairs. Both of these programs fulfill CEUs and are taught at various locations around the country. Costs will vary based on course cost, travel, and expenses.
