A Healthy Diet that Will Make Me Lose Weight
Are you fed up trying to lose weight with fad diets and find yourself asking, "What's a healthy diet that will make me lose weight?" If you are, good for you. Healthy, long term weight loss offers slow but steady weight loss, while teaching you to incorporate new eating habits that should help maintain weight loss once you achieve your goal.
What Is a Healthy Diet that Will Make Me Lose Weight?

If you've struggled with your weight and are tired of yo-yo weight loss and are seriously asking, "What is a healthy diet that will make me lose weight?" the answer may not offer the quick results you'd like. However, the real question to ask yourself is whether you'd like to lose weight fast so you can gain it back plus a little more, or would you like to see slow, steady weight loss that results in long-term results.

The problem today is that we want everything fast. Fast food, quick service…in fact we've coined the term instant gratification. If we're "good" with our diet one day we want to see results on the scale the next day. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. Weight can fluctuate two to five pounds in one day even when you're good. If the scale discourages you easily, then stay off of it. Weigh about every six weeks or so, instead.

Once you understand these basics you'll see that you have a choice of a number of different diets that can help you achieve your weight loss goals. The key is to learn to eat less. To do that, find the method that works best for you.

Calorie Conscience Diet
Counting calories isn't the right approach for everyone, but works very well for people willing to put effort into figuring out how much food they are really consuming. The nice thing about a calorie restricted diet is that it allows you to eat all kinds of foods, but limits the quantity. While the 1200 calorie diet is probably the most popular calorie restricted diet, it is best to talk to your doctor about how many calories are healthy for you. Calorie needs are based on age, current weight, height and gender. Due to this, the amount of calories you could eat and still lose weight in your 30s may not work when you reach your 50s.

No S Approach
The No S Diet does not require counting calories, but it does help you eat less. The basic rules are:

No sweets
No snacks
No seconds
These rules apply only on days that don't contain an "S" which means you can enjoy snacks, seconds and sweets, on Saturday, Sunday along with what the author of the diet calls Special days like birthdays and holidays.

Avoid Fad Diets

If you are really looking for a healthy diet to help you lose weight, you'll want to steer clear of fad diets. It is tempting to fall for the idea of losing five to ten pounds fast, but when the lure of fast weight loss meets up with the reality of equally fast weight gain it becomes apparent that fad diets are not the answer for long term success. If you wonder whether or not the diet you're considering is a fad or crash diet, talk with your doctor.

These are just a few of the many healthy choices you can make to help you lose weight. Along with diet, exercise is an important part of not only losing weight but maintaining your weight loss. It's not about the latest diet, it's really a common sense approach. Eat less, move more, and when you do eat, choose foods that are good for you.
