Makeup Tips for a Natural Look
Following a few makeup tips for a natural look can help a woman create a polished face while still allowing her natural beauty to shine through.
While these tips are especially useful for summer, when many women avoid heavy makeup, apply them anytime you want to present a fresh-faced look to the world.

Five Makeup Tips for a Natural Look

These makeup tips may be more applicable during the day, but they're appropriate for business and casual events. You'll probably go for more elaborate makeup at night, but if you're the type who enjoys minimal makeup, feel free to utilize these makeup tips for a natural look anytime.

Lightweight Foundation
Foundation isn't a necessity, so if your skin is clear and even, don't bother to wear any. Simply moisturize your face, let sit for several minutes and then dust with translucent powder. Use concealer on undereye circles or around the base of your nose if needed.

If you feel this cosmetic will help even out your skin tone or cover minor blemishes, stick with a lightweight foundation. Choose from sheer, liquid formulas or opt for airbrush base. You may also want to wear a tinted moisturizer, which does the job of two products.

Minimal Blush
Give your cheeks the barest flush with a light application of blush. Cream blush blends well onto properly moisturized skin and should be applied before powder. Smile widely to identify the apples of your cheeks and place small dots of blush there, taking care to blend well until your blush all but disappears.

Skip Eyeliner
Instead of using a hard liner around your eyes, keep your look natural and subtle by skipping it. If you still want to highlight your eyes, create a soft line with eye shadow in a neutral color. Use a Q-tip or slanted makeup brush to draw a thin line on your upper lid, smudging it into your lash line.

Mascara Do's
If your eyelashes are black, then swipe on a coat or two of black mascara. Use an eyelash comb to work out any clumps. For women with blonde or brown eyelashes, stick to mascara in light to dark brown shades. Curl your lashes before applying; you may find one coat is enough. You may also apply a clear mascara which lengthens and defines lashes without imparting any color.

Light on the Lips
Dark lipstick often requires lip liner to keep it in place and prevent bleeding. When wearing natural makeup, your lip color will likely be light, so no lip liner is needed. Wear colors that mimic the natural shade of your lips, such as pink, beige or coral. Top with a light coat of lip gloss, either clear or slightly tinted.

Best Colors for a Natural Look

A light hand helps when applying natural makeup, but your choice of color also has a huge impact on just how naturally beautiful you appear. Consider your complexion and select cosmetics in shades that will complement your skin tone without overpowering it.

Fair: For the fairest skin, the colors that will help you present your most natural face include pale pink, light rose, silver, pearl, beige and pale peach.
Medium: If your complexion falls into the medium range, enhance your looks with shades of peach, coral, rose, mauve, pale gold and light brown.
Deep: Just because your skin is deep and rich doesn't mean you have to apply makeup with a heavier hand. Colors should blend into your skin well but don't shy away from hues that contrast slightly. Look for makeup in tones of bronze, gold, chocolate, mauve, violet and dark pink.
Natural Beauty

Makeup is a fun addition to a woman's life, but it should be used to enhance, not hide. Even women who aren't fully comfortable wearing a lot of makeup can create a natural look to appear polished and professional. Use these tips for natural makeup any time you want your real beauty to be the focus.
